The Baby Naming Playbook.
Everything in our naming framework, turned into a structured, printable workbook — so you're not doing the process from memory at 11pm with a spreadsheet.
40 pages, built around one job: getting you to a decision.
The long-list method
How to generate 30–50 real candidates before you narrow anything — and why skipping this step is the #1 cause of naming regret.
The practical filter checklist
Surname flow, initials, uncontrollable nicknames, and longevity — run every finalist through the same five checks we use.
Meaning vs. sound worksheet
A simple scoring grid to stop one factor from quietly overriding the other.
The say-it-out-loud script
Exact phrases to test a name in the ordinary, repeated contexts you'll actually use it in.
Sibling pairing worksheet
If this isn't your first, a structured way to check a new name against ones you've already chosen.
The two-week cooling-off tracker
A printable page to log how a name feels each day before you treat it as final.
The 5-question gut check
Before you commit to any name, ask:
- Have I said this name out loud in an ordinary, unremarkable context — not just imagined it on a birth announcement?
- Would I still choose this name if no one else ever commented on it, positively or negatively?
- Have I checked the initials and said the full name with our surname at least five times?
- Am I choosing this because I love it, or because I've run out of energy to keep looking?
- If I sat with this exact name, with no changes, for two more weeks, would I still feel the same pull?
This is one worksheet out of a dozen in the full Playbook.
